There are many different ways to practice mindfulness including established methods of guided meditation. You shouldn't discount any option that will help you on your path to be more mindful. However, as a crafter, you might find that it helps to expand a mindfulness practice using your craft.
Mindfulness through yarn crafts can be an easier way to begin. Crochet is a terrific place for practising mindfulness. Here are some reasons why:
You already know your craft so, it will be a safe, low pressure place to start.
Crochet is something you already do on a regular basis. Therefore, you can use it to add mindfulness to your life without having to schedule something new in your days.
Crochet is a naturally rhythmic, relaxing craft. This lends itself well to mindfulness.
Crochet is a craft that can enhance the senses. It is a very tactile craft that can be rich in colour, which lets you easily focus on the senses of touch and sight. Tuning into your senses is one way of practising mindfulness.
This doesn't apply only to crochet. It can be achieved with knitting or with any other yarn craft. I picked crochet because it is my favourite. In my case, it really takes me to a state of "flow".
